HALF PAGE ZINE, 2024

MAKING WAVES 🔸

At the start of the year I was commissioned by the @adobelive @adobe community team to create an artwork for their new zine ‘Half Page’. The first edition of the zine was in honour of Women’s History Month (March 2024) and explores the theme of ‘Making Waves’ within the creative industry.

The inspiration for my artwork came from a portrait I took in 2018, inspired by the Octopus. I wanted to reimagine the portrait but with bold and striking colour and it slowly transformed into this piece. I paired the orange starfish, contrasted with the deep ocean blue backdrop, to symbolise the regeneration of life and a starfish intuition to evolve - representing my own journey with art and my career in the creative industry.

As a woman conditioned by society and pressure to follow paths laid out before me, I have felt squeezed from all angles but I chose recently to embrace new creative awakenings within myself and to never be scared of the growth. It’s fucking fantastic to breathe new life into your own creativity if something isn’t serving you. My motto has always been to never ever stop experimenting, and let the vulnerability and naivety guide you into new and exciting worlds - make your own waves!!!!
